Blackjack Odds

bet with 19 of 21

Now, the first thing to know is that these odds are not going to be 100% accurate. Every table has different odds, and so will every site. However, there are certain aspects that you can look for to make sure you get the best odds.

Here is what to look for:

A table with 3 to 2 odds

There are going to be several tables out there that offer a variety of odds. No matter what other numbers are out there, stick with the natural number to 3 to 2. A 6 to 5 odd may look better on paper, but it is not necessarily so. For example, betting $10 on a 3 to 2 table will win you $15, but it will only win you $12 on a 6 to 5 table.

Find a Table without Dealers Hitting on 17

Different tables have different rules on when the dealer must hit. By allowing the dealer another hit, you are giving them the chance to beat your cards. While it may not be as skewed as the odds at a table, this rule can give the house an extra .22% advantage over you. While it may seem little, everything makes a difference.

Find a Table that Allows Doubling Down after Splitting

The tactic of doubling down and then splitting is a very profitable one. When a table doesn't allow this to happen, they are taking away some of the money that you can make. When possible, be sure to find a table that allows you to double down after you split. Again, it may seem like a small detail, but it may end up earning you some extra cash.

The Breakdown

Now that you know how to find the right table, here are the odds.

When you have 21, your odds of busting on a hit are 100%, of course. When you have 20, those odds drop down to 92%. With a total of 19, the chances of busting go down to an 85%, while 18 only has a 77% chance.

Continuing on, having a 17 gives you a 69% chance of busting and 16 drops it down to 62%. If you have 15 points, expect a 58% chance of busting and a 56% if you only have a 14. 13 points will net you a 39% chance of busting and 12 points drops it down to a measly 31%. Anything below an 11 has a 0% chance of busting on a hit.

As you can see, the odds can greatly change depending on how many points you have. Be sure to keep this in mind as you play Blackjack, you'll be a better player for it.
